During a large part of the year, Chile is 4 hours behind GMT, one hour ahead of Eastern Time. Easter Island is 2 hours behind continental Chile. This is especially convenient for productions from North America but also an easy transition for European shoots.
The extensive north-south length of Chile gives rise to very marked climate contrasts.
In the north we find an extreme desert climate, warm water beaches and sun during the entire year (300+ days).
In the Central Valley, where the capital is located, the weather has Mediterranean characteristics, with 4 seasons: autumn between March and April; winter between June and September; spring between October and November; and summer between December and February.
